About The Owner
Tanya Taylor Jones is a native Houstonian. Ms.Jones solely focused on classical ballet and pointe. She finished from THE Jack Yates Senior High School in 3rd ward, Texas, receiving a full scholarship to Sam Houston State University. She finished with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Theater. Ms. Tanya Jones danced professional for 14 years before retiring. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Theater. Ms. Jones has studied with many professional dance companies in her career. Many of her companies including Houston Ballet Academy, Ad Deum Dance Company, Urban Souls Dance Company, Houston Dance Theater and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater.
Now, Ms. Jones is the dance director for Westbury High School Fine Art Magnet and has been a part of the Westbury family for 17 yrs. Committing herself to teaching a curriculum that is rigorous as well as diverse. Following in her footsteps is her beautiful 15-year-old daughter, who is also studying dance.
Ms. Jones has now expanded her knowledge beyond the classroom and now has her own company Poetry Through Motion LLC. Giving the youth, as well as the special needs students, an opportunity to embrace their passion for the arts right here in Houston, Texas.
